Mahari A. McTier is a seasoned financial services professional with over 25+ years of experience as an Investment Banker (Public Finance), Financial Advisor, and Real Estate Investor and Loan Officer.  He also has an extensive background in politics where he has served as a top Aide to former U.S. Congressman Earl F. Hilliard; Special P

  

Mahari A. McTier is a seasoned financial services professional with over 25+ years of experience as an Investment Banker (Public Finance), Financial Advisor, and Real Estate Investor and Loan Officer.  He also has an extensive background in politics where he has served as a top Aide to former U.S. Congressman Earl F. Hilliard; Special Projects Coordinator through Faith and Politics for former U.S. Congressman John Lewis; and State Political Director for 2020 Presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg. 

Mahari is currently CEO of Tier 1 Property Solutions, LLC, a real estate investment and property management firm that specializes in residential and commercial real estate and a mortgage professional with Apex Mortgage Group. As a sought-after speaker, he has hosted many economic empowerment seminars and written for several local and national publications as a contributing journalist on a wide range of topics. One of his life’s passions is empowering individuals through financial literacy and using it as a tool to close the economic wealth gap between the have and the have nots. 

Mahari has always maintained his commitment to community service and civic involvement. He is very proud to have had the opportunity to serve his country for many years in the Army National Guard as a communications specialist. He is currently active with many community based organizations, and serves as Chairman and President of the Birmingham-Jefferson County Port Authority. The most important things in his life is his faith, family, and the financial empowerment of others! Mahari holds Series 7 (Registered Representative-Stock Broker), Series 66 (Investment Advisor Representative), Life and Health Insurance, and Mortgage Loan Originator (NMLS# 2299511) licenses.

Grant spent most of his career working where people and systems meet—across tech, finance, sales, and hospitality—helping ideas turn into things that actually work in the real world. Through many industries, he's always been drawn to improving how things run: simplifying messy processes, building better workflows, and creating systems that make life easier instead of more complicated.

Much of his professional experience lives in technology and finance, where he focused on problem-solving, automation, and operations. He enjoys untangling complex setups, spotting inefficiencies, and replacing them with solutions that are clearer, more reliable, and easier to maintain. Over time, this naturally led him toward automation and system design—finding smart ways to reduce friction so people can spend less time fighting tools and more time doing meaningful work.

He's also spent a lot of time in customer-facing roles, especially in sales and coffee. Those experiences shaped how he thinks about communication and trust. Whether you’re explaining a technical solution or handing someone their morning coffee, clarity, honesty, and respect matter. Good systems only work when people feel comfortable using them, and strong relationships are what make any operation sustainable.

Coffee and hospitality were less of a career detour and more of a return to something foundational: community. Running and working in coffee taught him the value of consistency, presence, and care—showing up every day, paying attention to details, and creating spaces where people feel welcome. It reinforced his belief that real impact often happens locally and through service, not just big ideas.

Leadership, for him, has always been about responsibility rather than titles. He focuses on building trust, setting clear expectations, and removing obstacles so people can do their jobs well. He's especially interested in how automation and thoughtful design can support people instead of overwhelming them—technology should work quietly in the background, not demand constant attention.

Outside of work, family and community are central to who he is. He's a father to three, a grandfather to two, and a proud cat dad. Those roles keep him grounded and shape how he thinks about time, priorities, and what really matters. He values curiosity, steady learning, and conversations that lead somewhere useful.

At his core, he care about building things that last—systems that don’t break under pressure, businesses that serve real needs, and communities that feel a little stronger because of the people involved. He's most at home working with others who care about progress, practicality, and doing good work without unnecessary noise.
